If you like acoustic, you’ll like the album, ‘6-4-9’. If you like Indie, you’ll like the album, ‘6-4-9’. If you like both, you’re in for a treat.
Jon Farrell was formerly the singer/songwriter of a band from Warrington called, The Forge. A few years ago, the group literally went their separate ways to the corners of the world and so Jon took it as an opportunity to go solo and compile an album, varying from acoustic to electric guitar compositions. (He is one of those lads who can effortlessly turn his hand to most things and manage to do a good job; this album being no exception.)
Jon and his fantastic lady live in city centre, so we decided to stay local for the photo shoot and see what nooks and crannies would come across our paths that night. We stopped off for a quick pre-photo shoot pint in one of my favourite little spots, ‘The Cask’ and I briefly discussed some of the shots I would like to do. I’m sure most of you would agree, that a photographer following you about the streets of Manchester in broad daylight with a great big blooming lens, is not everyone’s cup of tea and Jon was no different on the matter; but with a brave face, a sweaty brow and hesitant voice, he said, “Mary, I give you full artistic rights and will do whatever you suggest for the shoot.” So with those famous last words in mind, I decided to push him a little outside his comfort zone for a few shots and I hope you agree, the camera shy fella managed to pull them off.
Jon’s new album, “6-4-9″will be released at the end of July, of which I will keep you posted.
Jon Farrell regularly plays on open mic nights across Manchester, including Troff in city centre.
