Put two Irish girls together in a room and it’s very likely an ‘outsider’s’ ears might burn off from trying to listen and their brain might explode from trying to keep up – even if we have just literally been introduced a few seconds you’ll find the same, natter natter, gabble gabble gabble. It has happened on many a night when I’ve been out with my English friends in Manchester – if we (the Irish) pick up on a whiff of a brogue, as soon as there’s a gap for breath we jump in like two horses in The National, ten to the dozen, racing for the connection cause there always is one, and no stone is left UNTURNED til we find it.
“Where are you from, where’d you go to school, do you know such and such, did you play netball, aye sure he’s a laugh, known him for donkey’s years, he’s married on such a such; she’s a right one…” And so it goes on…
Well, it was kind of like that meeting Michelle for the first time on the bump shoot a few weeks ago in Belfast. We never shut out ‘bakes’ (gobs) from the moment she opened the door and it felt like I had known her for years. The connection was my gorgeous girl and ex-roomie, Danielle (who so very kindly booked me for the session), well she is Michelle’s partner’s sister – do try to keep up.
Michelle’s partner in crime is Ray, who god love him had night shift the previous evening and hadn’t had a wink of sleep – but he masked his tiredness very well and was full of bizz as we chatted about The Hives, Starsailor and James Walsh’s amazing voice, and whereabouts?? Anyone..?
Last but not least, little blondie, aka Michael who was for me the star of the show. He is just as an 8 year old should be. Not too street wise, still got his innocence, a smile that would light up a darkened room and even though there were some questionable Kay’s catalogue circa 1989 modelling moves going on, he was absolutely fabulous throughout the day.
Did I mentioned that Michelle is sporting a gorgeous, round bump? I’ll stop whittering on and let you have a look at the images.
(Oh, Michelle very kindly agreed to a few of the bare bump images being posted (we did many more) but it was her call to display them and something I would never push. Wait til you see them, I think she looks nothing short of stunning!)
Thanks to Michelle, Ray and Michael for a fab day and I shall see you soon!
PS I visit Ireland quite regularly and my sessions are very reasonable priced, so if you feel you would like to book me for a portrait, wedding or commercial reasons, then send me a message via the ‘CONTACT ME’ tab at the top of the page.
I hope you enjoy the images!
PPS A new comment system (which can be found below), has been added to my webpage making it a lot easier to write something about the shoot. Feel free to do so!
